- Chemical Composition Analysis: Use a spectrometer to detect the content of elements such as iron, carbon, silicon, and manganese to ensure compliance with cast iron grade requirements.
- Mechanical Performance Test: Tensile tests to determine the tensile strength (≥420MPa) and elongation (≥10%); hardness tests to ensure Brinell hardness is within the range of 180-230HB.
Composite Material Manhole Covers:
- Density Test: Determine density using the drainage method to prevent cutting corners.
- Barcol Hardness Test: Detect the surface hardness of the material to ensure compressive and impact resistance.
Structural Dimension and Appearance Inspection
Dimensional Accuracy:
- Use calipers and tape measures to measure the diameter, thickness, and depth of the frame groove of the manhole cover, with an allowable error of ±2mm.
- Use a level to check the fitting gap between the manhole cover and the frame; the gap after assembly shall be ≤3mm to avoid loosening or jamming.
Appearance Quality:
- Visually inspect the surface for defects such as cracks, bubbles, depressions, and flash. Defects with a depth exceeding 2mm are considered unqualified.
- Check the depth and uniform distribution of anti-slip patterns to ensure anti-slip performance.

Load-Bearing Capacity Inspection
Load-bearing capacity is the most critical performance index of manhole covers, which needs to be tested by simulating actual loads with a pressure testing machine:
- Testing Method: Assemble the manhole cover with the frame, place it on the test bench, apply uniform vertical pressure through a hydraulic system, and record the load value when the manhole cover is damaged or permanently deformed.
III. Inspection Process and Judgment Rules

- Sampling: Randomly select samples from the same batch and specification of manhole covers.
- Preliminary Inspection: Inspect items such as dimensions, appearance, and material to eliminate unqualified samples.
- Performance Testing: Conduct tests on core items such as load-bearing capacity, impact resistance, and sealing performance for the remaining samples.
- Re-inspection: If an indicator fails inspection, double the number of samples for re-inspection; if the re-inspection also fails, then the batch of products is deemed unqualified.
Judgment Rules
- When all inspection items meet the required standards, the batch of products is deemed qualified and permitted to leave the factory.
- However, if critical items, such as load-bearing capacity and impact resistance, are found to be unqualified, or if the disqualification rate of secondary items exceeds 10%, the batch is classified as unqualified and must either be reworked or scrapped.
- Qualified products must be accompanied by a "Product Quality Certificate," which includes essential information such as the batch number, inspection date, and load-bearing class.
